So, what’s the best course of action when you see a 2007 scooter in the dumpster? Bring it home of course.
I don’t know anything about scooters, but I’ll give it a week or two to see if it’s worth doing anything with. If I can get it running, end goal would be to swap on a jet ski body for lols and just cruising around. Good luck me!
The wire harness doesn’t seem to be jacked up, the fuel line was disconnected from the tank and air filter assembly removed, but close by. Tires some to be ok for 2007 made, and only 1,8xx on the odometer either klm or miles. Of course no battery. 49cc so no registration required.
Ok.

I would have done the same thing!
Good luck though, Chinese scooters can be very breakable. I’ve tried to fix a friends with little success before.

Yeah those Chinese scooters are pretty much garbage when they are new. The Taiwanese Honda copies like the Sym are pretty good, my friend back home on Oahu had a rental business with those and they were pretty good, they copied the Hondas well I guess.

Where in the states can you ride these legally sans registration? Anywhere I’ve lived, even 49 cc scooters & mopeds required a plate.

Worst case scenario, you could part it out. I bet you can get it running. It will break again, but that’s how it goes with Chinesium.

Welcome to the sketchy “is it a motorcycle? Is this actually legal? Nobody knows!” two wheel club!

So I did just look up Missouri laws, and it’s 49cc, under 3hp, under 30 mph on the flat. I bet this would do more than 30, so technically it’s a moped and same as a motorcycle. I doubt I’d get pulled over on this if it was running. I wouldn’t take this on the highway.

I found out who dumped it, and he is giving me some filters and the battery he bought a few months ago. Spending $32 on some electric kit and see if that helps. I won’t put more than $100 into this trash.

Nice! That's the entire ignition system all in one.

You should check for spark before you launch the parts cannon.

So the state of MO doesn’t understand what “moped” means, is my takeaway. I’m sure they’re not the only one.
Legally, you couldn’t take it on an interstate highway, even if it were registered. Riding it on any road considered a highway seems like an excellent way to get run off the road or hit from behind - and I say that as a fan of scooters. My old Honda Passport (C70) was a blast, but stress-inducing anywhere typical speeds were 40+.

Under 50cc in Virginia doesn't require registration

I have seen a lot of chinese bike engine pull offs, they trash the rest and sell as replacement engines. we got a couple this way and got lucky cause they were low miles but the donor bikes were wrecked. we stumbled across this accidentally one day and got lucky, maybe this is still a thing
